Beauty vs. Money: A JP Morgan CEO's analysis

A reply from CEO of J.P. Morgan to a pretty girl seeking a rich husband

A young and pretty lady posted this on a popular forum:

Title: What should I do to marry a rich guy?

I’m going to be honest of what I’m going to say here.

I’m 25 this year. I’m very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with $500k annual salary or above.

You might say that I’m greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York.
My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary? Are you all married?

I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you?

Among those I’ve dated, the richest is $250k annual income, and it seems that this is my upper limit.

If someone is going to move into high cost residential area on the west of New York City Garden(?), $250k annual income is not enough.

I’m here humbly to ask a few questions:

1) Where do most rich bachelors hang out? (Please list down the names and addresses of bars, restaurant, gym)
2) Which age group should I target?
3) Why most wives of the riches are only average-looking? I’ve met a few girls who don’t have looks and are not interesting, but they are able to marry rich guys.
4) How do you decide who can be your wife, and who can only be your girlfriend? (my target now is to get married)

Ms. Pretty

A philosophical reply from CEO of J.P. Morgan:

Dear Ms. Pretty,

I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyse your situation as a professional investor.

My annual income is more than $500k, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I’m not wasting time here.

From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you. The answer is very simple, so let me explain.

Put the details aside, what you’re trying to do is an exchange of “beauty" and “money" : Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square.

However, there’s a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can’t be prettier year after year.

Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It’s not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worse 10 years later.

By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a “trading position".

If the trade value dropped we will sell it and it is not a good idea to keep it for long term - same goes with the marriage that you wanted. It might be cruel to say this, but in order to make a wiser decision any assets with great depreciation value will be sold or “leased".

Anyone with over $500k annual income is not a fool; we would only date you, but will not marry you. I would advice that you forget looking for any clues to marry a rich guy. And by the way, you could make yourself to become a rich person with $500k annual income. This has better chance than finding a rich fool.

Hope this reply helps.

BOOK GIVEAWAY: CRAZY RICH ASIANS

Crazy Rich Asians is the outrageously funny debut novel about three super-rich, pedigreed Chinese families and the gossip, backbiting, and scheming that occurs when the heir to one of the most massive fortunes in Asia brings home his ABC (American-born Chinese) girlfriend to the wedding of the season.
When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home, long drives to explore the island, and quality time with the man she might one day marry. What she doesn't know is that Nick's family home happens to look like a palace, that she'll ride in more private planes than cars, and that with one of Asia's most eligible bachelors on her arm, Rachel might as well have a target on her back. Initiated into a world of dynastic splendor beyond imagination, Rachel meets Astrid, the It Girl of Singapore society; Eddie, whose family practically lives in the pages of the Hong Kong socialite magazines; and Eleanor, Nick's formidable mother, a woman who has very strong feelings about who her son should--and should not--marry. Uproarious, addictive, and filled with jaw-dropping opulence, Crazy Rich Asians is an insider's look at the Asian JetSet; a perfect depiction of the clash between old money and new money; between Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese; and a fabulous novel about what it means to be young, in love, and gloriously, crazily rich.

My Take
Ok, Rachel Chu enamored me! She is the female lead in Kevin Kwan's recent bestseller entitled Crazy Rich Asians. It's written like a Filipino television series. Replete with meddling mothers and polygamous men, this novel might get overly dramatic. There are a whole lot of characters whose names you have to take note of. Having said that, it is still an entertaining read which introduces you to the lives of the ultra-rich and elite people of Singapore and the rest of Asia.

Happy Reading!

How To Turn Off Your Apple Device Without Touching the Power Button

Well, my iPhone 3gs is working pretty good  except for my phone's power button. I have a hard time turning it off and on. But, I found a workaround to this ordeal.

Drumroll please for the screencaps!!! By the way, I used my iPad for this. It is still the same process anyway.

1. Tap SETTINGS; GENERAL; ASSISTIVE TOUCH

PhilHealth Application

After my accident, I finally made a point to apply for my Philhealth membership. It could have helped me a lot when it came to my humongous medical bills. I really regret not having done this before.

Anyway, it's not too late as I am still young. Plus, I am no longer qualified to be a beneficiary of my parents. Only your children 21 years and younger (unmarried & unemployed), children with disabilities, your spouse, and your parents who are 60 years old and above are qualified to be your beneficiaries.

WHAT TO BRING:
Either:
1.) Just bring one: Proof of Identification

Photocopy of Birth Certificate (Certified True Copy)
Photocopy of Baptismal Certificate
Photocopy of Valid ID Card

2.) Payment
Php450.00

3.) Form
A completely filled-up Philhealth Member  Registration Form (PMRF)

WHAT I DID:
For my part, I just brought a photocopy of my Voter's ID. I printed out the PMRF and completed it. Because the PhilHealth office in our area is just an assistance center, I was advised to pay for the first three months of membership to an RCBC or LBC branch. As a voluntary member, I was required to pay Php450.00 to the PhilHealth number I have been assigned. Then, I returned to the PhilHealth office with the receipt of my payment. Right then, I was given my Member's Data Record (MDR) and my PhilHealth ID card. All it needed was my 1x1 picture and be laminated for protection against wear and tear.

If you are busy with work and can't spare the time to go to the PhilHealth office, Philhealth online registration is also available.

Rorouni Kenshin

http://youtu.be/bzeHq9blYC8

I'm not really an animè fan. But for some reason, I do remember Kenshin from high school. Though, I must admit that I really don't have any idea regarding the storyline.

We watched Rorouni Kenshin in 2D last Thursday at SM Bacolod. I was really hesitant at first but my boyfriend really pushed me to watch. We found out that it's exclusively showing in SM Cinemas so make sure to head over to Movietime if you want to catch this Samurai X movie on the big screen.

Over all, I liked the story. I liked the idea of a samurai who wants to redeem himself by not killing another person again. Kenshin resorted to carrying a reverse-edged sword so he won't be able to hurt his enemies. In battles, it is him who gets hurt by his sword. Now, that is nobility and dedication to leave being a samurai. There are, after all, different ways to exact justice without killing your enemies. Like torture. Haha! I also appreciated knowing how he got the X scar on his face which led to him being known as Samurai X. I loved knowing about the dojos, the samurais, and the effects of opium. It was educational, in a way.

Jerome said that it was a very accurate representation of the animè version. We will have to take his word for it because he's the expert in this area. 😀

My friend told me that she used to watch Samurai X and all those animé shows in elementary. It was a way of getting closer to her crush and having a conversation starter. It's funny that this still works 15 years later.

TIP: If you want to ask a guy out, he'll probably be more amiable if you suggest to watch this SAMURAI X movie. Based on my experience, it gained me many cool girlfriend points. Hahahaha!
